Dismiss a case or mark a domain as yours

Sometimes Recon lists a site that is not a clone of your store. It may be your own second store, a domain you own, or a business that only has a similar name. You can mark a domain as yours, or dismiss the case, and Recon stops mentioning it. You can bring any case back later.

Mark a domain as yours

Use this for a domain you own or allow, such as a second storefront you have not connected to Recon.

From the Clones page:

  1. In Recon, open Clones.
  2. Find the domain under Clones of your store or Lookalike domains.
  3. Click This is my domain.

From a case:

  • On a confirmed clone, click It’s my own site.
  • On a possible clone or a lookalike, click No, then It’s my own site.

Recon records the domain as yours and stops mentioning it. You return to the Clones page, which shows Case dismissed.

Your summary email can also list a new lookalike domain with a This is my domain link. It opens a page where you confirm.

Probably yours

Some lookalike domains show Probably yours. These show the same placeholder page as one of your own domains, so Recon thinks you own them. Recon does not list them in your emails. If one is yours, click This is my domain to confirm it.

Dismiss a case

Use this when a site is not a clone and not yours, or when a clone is gone for good.

  1. Open the case.
  2. Click Dismiss case at the top of the page.
  3. In Dismiss this case?, choose a Reason:
    • This domain is mine or authorized
    • It isn’t targeting my brand
    • Another reason
  4. Click Dismiss case.

The domain leaves your open cases. Plain lookalike domains have no Dismiss case button. For those, open the case and click No, then It’s not a clone, or click This is my domain.

On a possible clone, No, then It’s not a clone also closes the case. Your answer helps Recon flag copies more accurately.

Restore a case

Dismissed cases and domains you marked as yours wait in History.

  1. In Recon, open Clones.
  2. Click the History row near the bottom of the page.
  3. Under Dismissed, find the domain. Domains you marked as yours say Marked as yours. Dismissed cases say Hidden from open cases.
  4. Click Restore case.

The case comes back to your open cases.

Sites Recon couldn’t confirm

History can also list Sites Recon couldn’t confirm. Your store’s code showed up on these sites, but your store was not there when Recon checked. They are usually ads, tools that copy web pages, or browser add-ons.

If you know one of them is a clone, click It’s a clone. Recon opens a case for it.

If you open a closed case

A link to a case you dismissed or marked as yours shows This case is closed. This also shows when Recon no longer finds the site. Click Back to Clones, and restore the case from History if you need it.
