Use Shopify Flow when Recon finds a clone
Recon can start a Shopify Flow workflow each time it finds a clone of your store. A clone is a copy of your store on another web address, often a fake store or scam site that uses your name and photos. With Flow, you choose what happens next: email your team, post in Slack, or make a task.
The Flow trigger works on every plan, Free and Pro. Shopify Flow is a free app from Shopify. Install it from the Shopify App Store if you do not have it yet.
The trigger
The trigger is called Copy of store found. It runs once for each new clone that Recon finds. It gives your workflow these fields:
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Copy domain | The address of the clone, for example northfell-sale.com |
| Copy URL | The full link to the clone |
| Reason | The main reason Recon thinks the site is a clone of your store |
| Case URL | A link to the clone's page in Recon, where you find the reports to send |
Create a workflow
- In Shopify admin, open the Shopify Flow app.
- Click Create workflow.
- Click Select a trigger, then search for Copy of store found. It comes from Recon.
- Click Then and choose an action, for example Send internal email.
- In the action, click Add a variable to insert a field from the table above, such as the Case URL.
- Click Turn on workflow.
Recon fires the trigger only when it finds a new clone, so you cannot run it on demand. Check each step before you turn the workflow on.
Example workflows
Email your legal or operations team. Use Send internal email. Put the copy domain in the subject and the case URL in the message, so the person can open the case in one click.
Post in a Slack channel. Use the Slack connector in Flow to send a message with the copy domain and the case URL. This works on the Free plan too. On Pro, Recon can also post in Slack by itself: see Send alerts to your team and Slack.
Make a task. If your team uses a project tool with a Shopify Flow connector, create a task such as "Report the clone at {copy domain}" and link the case URL.
What Flow does not do
Flow tells your tools about a clone. It does not report the clone or take it offline. To report a clone, open its case in Recon and send the reports Recon prepared. See Report a clone of your store.
