Send alerts to your team and Slack

Recon can send its emails to the people who look after your store, not only to you. It can also post in a Slack channel when it finds a clone of your store. A clone is a copy of your store on another web address.

Team emails and Slack are part of the Pro plan. See the plans on the Recon listing in the Shopify App Store.

Add people to your alerts

You can add up to 10 people. Each person gets the same emails as your main address: the summary email and clone alerts.

  1. In Recon, open Settings.
  2. In the Email card, under Who gets alerts and summaries, click Add person.
  3. Type their email address.
  4. Click Add.

Recon saves the address at once. You do not need to click Save.

Some things to know:

  • Each person gets their own copy of each email, with their own unsubscribe link. If someone unsubscribes, Recon shows Unsubscribed under their address.
  • People you add keep getting the summary even if you turn off Email me a summary for yourself.
  • Recon uses these addresses only for alerts and summaries about your store.

To remove someone, click Remove next to their address.

When you have 10 people, remove one before you add another.

Connect Slack

Recon posts in one Slack channel when it finds a clone of your store. Slack gets the same grouped clone alerts as email: Recon waits about five minutes to group clones found close together, and posts at most once an hour. The summary email does not go to Slack.

First, create an incoming webhook in Slack for the channel you want. An incoming webhook is a web address that lets an app post in one channel. Slack explains how in Sending messages using incoming webhooks. Copy the webhook URL. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.

Then add it to Recon:

  1. In Recon, open Settings.
  2. In the Slack card, click Connect Slack.
  3. Paste the URL into Webhook URL.
  4. Click Connect.

The card now shows Connected.

Send a test message

To check that Slack works, click Send test message in the Slack card. Recon posts a short message in your channel to say it is connected.

If Recon says "Slack didn’t accept the message", check the webhook URL. The webhook may have been removed in Slack. Create a new one, then click Disconnect and connect again with the new URL.

Disconnect Slack

In the Slack card, click Disconnect. Recon stops posting in the channel at once.

If you move to the Free plan

Recon keeps your list of people and your Slack connection, but stops sending to them. Only your main address gets the summary email. When you upgrade to Pro again, alerts go to everyone on the list.
